Christine Maudy latest exhibition will open on August 6, 6pm at Gallery 482, Brisbane. Cries and Whispers reflects in dense, evocative, multi-layered abstraction the artist’s concern over the state of human rights in the world at the beginning of the 21st century, but also her indomitable faith in the ability of the human spirit to overcome this state of affairs.

For Christine painting is an act translating her feelings and thoughts. Her painting, September 11, (2001), done the day after that fateful event, was a turning point in subject matter, the use of colours and in style. Her abstract works moved from a controlled freedom and fluidity to more structure through an imposed geometric order using abstract forms and shapes.
.

She often starts her paintings with a layer of collage, sand and impasto before developing the work with subtle layers of intermixed colours in acrylic, oil and gold leaf. She uses colours, abstracts marks and linear structure as a universal language to express the shouting murmurs of those who are denied a voice.

The works September 11, Echoes, A Tumultuous Silence...are inspired by, and dedicated to all the people whose voices are silenced not only by the dictatorial regimes but also our democratic ones.
Some other works, Inner Peace#2, Strength of Love, reflect her natural joy of life, optimism and faith in our power to make the world a better place.

There is a relentless energy to her powerful images that has gained her a broad following both here and overseas. Christine exhibits in Spain, Switzerland, France, Honk Hong as well as Australia, and is represented in private and corporate collections in all of these countries.

“...Her work sings, it breathes, it laughs and it comments.
The September 11 piece marks a scene of tragedy by
rising above the depths of the unattractive human desire for conflict.
With this Christine makes peace with the world.
Christine marks and shares her life journey through her work.
It is a microcosm of her world from a universal perspective."
